2007 Celebration Book Program Assembly
February 2007
Aloha Aina Haina School students and parents, Libraries bring you the world; they are part of the American Dream, places for education, self-help, and lifelong learning. Libraries are places of imagination and resources, a safe place for ideas, opinions and expression. A well-supplied library will increase student interest and paticipation in reading books. As you know, libraries also face many challenges. Our school library is no exception. We have started a program to allow you and your child to help make our library better every year. The Celebration Book Program is voluntary and a way to celebrate an event in your child's life with a permanent book donation to our Aina Haina School library. The gift books will postively affect student achievement and be enjoyed year after year. The celebration you choose can be a birthday, a new baby, an anniversary, a holiday, or anything you wish to celebrate. A celebration book given instead of sweet treats for the class is another option. Mrs. Foster, our librarian, has created a list of books from which you can choose your celebration book. The majority of the books are hardback, but there are some paperback books on the list (primarily the beginning reader series). Mrs. Foster must approve any donated book that is not on the list. To celebrate your book donation, donated books will be announced to the school weekly on our morning news program, Jaguar At 8. To participate in the program, purchase the book and complete the |
